KLA was lead site designer for this 6 acre project that included a community center, library annex, skate park, amphitheater, parking lot, children’s play area, sport court, community garden and demonstration garden, walking paths, solar powered parking lot lights, and site furnishings. The facility was designed to be accessible and enjoyed by all ages and abilities. One of the key design elements that was used to tie all of the part elements is a continuous meandering ‘river’ of grasses and accent planting that also doubles as storm water filtration. The dramatic signage at the front of the complex has quickly become a defining element and symbol for Lathrop. Over the past year of operation the facility has proven itself to be an invaluable asset to the community and is consistently busy.
